Carey has been a regular on the Maine (and beyond) speaking circuit for, well, a long time now, entertaining active and armchair outdoor enthusiasts alike with his inspiring, energetic and informative programs on the great outdoors.
From outdoor clubs and conservation organizations, schools and civic groups, to libraries, universities, senior colleges and Maine’s iconic retailer, L.L. Bean, Carey has brought to life his long trail hikes, two hiking guidebooks (more to come), and many other great adventures for countless audiences of devoted followers.
Carey is my first choice to present to an audience. His photographs complement his easy-going, natural presence. And the combination creates an experience that really draws a crowd. I know people who come to hear him are sitting there spellbound, listening to his adventurous tales, and wishing Carey would ask them to join him on his next adventure.
Over the course of his long outdoor career, Carey has hiked more than 10,000 official big trail miles, and easily that much again and probably a lot more through his extensive travels and explorations across Maine, New England, the U.S., Europe and Canada. Based on these accounts, Carey has plenty of fun stories to tell (which just might include just a few tall tales) with lots of stunning photography to match.
Carey is always excited to share his years of hiking and camping experience and passion for the great outdoors, whether in person or remotely. Contact Carey to arrange a program or event for your group or organization.
For many of us, hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine is a foolhardy and perhaps even deadly adventure. But with you, ‘Beerman,’ as our surrogate to guide us, we declare that your presentation was so excellent, so thorough, so entertaining and so informative, that we feel the very spirit of having hiked the AT ourselves. Thank you for taking us along!
